Iridium - 77Ir: uses
The following uses for iridium are gathered from a number of sources as well as from anecdotal comments. I would be delighted to receive corrections as well as additional referenced uses.
- making crucibles and apparatus for use at high temperatures
- electrical contacts
- hardening agent for platinum
- it forms an alloy with osmium used for tipping pens and compass bearings
- Pt/Ir sparkplugs, as used in the MG-F.
